School: Hanoi Pt.5

The reason for my recent trip to Vietnam was an invitation from the art teachers of the UN school in Hanoi. UNIS is a lovely place with 2,000 students from preschool to 12th grade — and I worked with and spoke to them all.

Here’s a little film I made about my trip and my work with the students.

  1. Thank you for a wonderful view of modern day Viet Nam – a place most of us will never visit! I know those children loved their week with you 🙂

  2. Thanks for sharing! Those kids looked so happy! How long does it take to get over the time warp both there and back? Yikes!

    1. I have been lucky enough to be invited by people at the various schools.
I get an email, generally from someone I don’t know at a school I’ve never heard of in a country I’ve never been to.
And then I generally say, ‘yes’. And so it goes.

  4. Thank you for this. I spent time in Okinawa and I love that side of the world and the cultures there. What a wonderful reason to visit–to share a common language-art! I enjoyed your impressions. It is indeed the year of the monkey!

  8. Danny! I want to start doing watercolor paintings and I was wondering what kind of sketchbook you typically use… does it have watercolor paper, or do you use just regular sketchbook paper (if that makes any sense..). Trying to find a good sketchbook to buy. Thanks, and I love your artwork!
