I have so much to be thankful for. I should use some of my many blessings to help others more than I do.
- Teach illustrated journaling in prison
- Volunteer at the senior center in Chelsea
- Put the contents of my change jar in the Washington Square fountain
- Volunteer help to everyone I see holding a map or a guidebook
- Buy all the candy from those kids on the subway pretending to raise money for their basketball team
- Habitat for Humanity. I like building stuff. Even if it’s wonky.
- Give SBS classes for free to any library that requests it.
- Volunteer to speak about creativity at NY public schools.
- Start the cross-country Sketchbook Skool bus tour with inspiration films, workshops and free supplies
- Draw portraits of shooting victims on spent bullet casing
- Give away all but one of my winter coats
- Donate to and volunteer for Planned Parenthood, the ADL, the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, The Trevor Project for LGBTQ youth, and the Mexican-American Legal Defense and Education Fund.
Who can you help?
Now THATS a Thanksgiving post. Thanks for the thought provoking and world changing ideas!

‘Volunteer help to everyone I see holding a map or a guidebook’
Earlier this year I went to Japan where I was often approached by people wanting to help me when I was lost. As a result I’ve helped various tourists around London (where I live) looking lost, as a sort of thank you to the people of Japan for being amazingly helpful. It doesn’t take up as much time as you might think!

I’ve worked with women and children in a women’ shelter teaching them art and journaling. Your list is terrific, Danny. I would add caution however, sometimes those kids selling trinkets or candy are being trafficked. It’s hard to know.

Such an inspiring post. I have always wanted to think of ways to help through art. (Then again if only I am as you good as you are.)

Great and inspiring post, Danny! I serve once a month at a soup kitchen. I was thinking of giving to ACLU.
