  1. Hey Danny
    Happy Christmas x x x

Thanks for what you have done for me and my family of one daughter and one dog this year. I got a lovely card from my daughter saying how proud she is of me for all I have achieved this year and how excited she is of what me might go on to do in 2013. It feels like solid excitement and hope, a curiosity about what is around the corner, its a nice feeling – very different to where I was at this time last year.

The longest night is over, spring is ahead, there will be flowers to enjoy and blue skies and warmth, that is what christmas is about looking ahead to light, new growth and change.

Thanks for being such a big influence on me this year, you have created openings where there were walls and I am now free from what felt like a never ending maze x

Sending you a big hug and wishing you all the best for 2013 x x x

  2. Wishing you a peaceful holiday time Danny Gregory! I know there is an empty spot, but hope you can still enjoy the joy of the season with Jack, the dogs, friends and family. I still have not finished your book. I think it is something I dread (not your book; LOSS) … so avoiding yours … even though it sits out as a constant reminder. I know I will find the right day to sit and read and have a good cry! Wishing you everything good in the coming new year!

  3. Danny: Merry Christmas to you and to Jack! I hope that the New Year brings much hope and light and many new adventures for you. I, too, want to thank you for the creative courage you have fostered in me this past year. Your blogs and books have encouraged me to begin to learn to sketch and paint – something I’ve dreamed of doing my whole life but was sure I could never really do – at least and make the drawing and sketching LOOK like anything. But little by little, I’m getting the hang of it, and learning so much about myself and the delight of “playing” with color in so many different ways. It’s a new joy in my life that I thank you for!

I eagerly opened your new book when it arrived from Amazon a week or two ago, and just finished reading it for the second time this Christmas morning, as I sit in a quiet house on the South Shore of Lake Superior, with big flakes of fluffy snow drifting in the breeze. It truly is a lovely, heartfelt memoir that brought tears and laughter as I read it and marveled at the wonderful way you combined your drawings and your words into what seemed a compact story on each and every page. Congratulations on a beautiful story of love and grief and hope.

Here’s hoping that you have time during this season to take a breath and to enjoy the wonder of the work you have done and the anticipation of what the future holds. Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!

  4. Merry Christmas to you, and your son, Jack. “A Kiss Before You Go” was indeed under our tree for me, by request. Just finished reading it last night. It is deeply beautiful. May you have a Happy New Year, with lots of drawing, filming, and writing!

  5. I ordered and received ‘A Kiss Before You Go’ some time before Christmas. It was a beautiful and moving read. I enjoyed all the illustrations and writing. I also liked the inside cover of the jacket showing pics of Patti. Thank you for sharing your experience of love and loss with us.

A very Happy New Year to you, Jack, and the doggies, of course!

  6. I was delighted to unwrap your book on Christmas Day! I could have bought it myself, but it seemed appropriate that it be more of a gift from a loved one. My first thought was that the pages seemed so LUSH as I flipped through them. I have expected to find my fingers colored blue and pink and orange by doing so! Your words and drawings are the core, though, and I know by the act of sharing your love and grief that you will help many people who may be hurting in some way. Beautiful, Danny! Peace be with you and Jack! Jane W
