Spring in my step.

I just wanted to tell you that, though I have not been very active here of late, it’s mainly because Koosje and Morgan and I have been beavering away on several important projects we will soon reveal. I think they will please you. I sure hope so.

I also want to thank you so much for supporting the release of Art Before Breakfast. You have managed to thrill my publisher into wanting me to immediately do other exciting new things — which I will tell you more about as they gel.

Meanwhile, we are waiting for our container ship-full of freshly printed copies to be unloaded onto the Los Angeles docks (which just concluded a long and bad-for-books-and-other-goods strike) and soon the shortage of Arts B4 Breakfast will end (I myself have but a single dog-eared copy)

Also, you (but not my monkey) will be heartened to know that my manuscript for “Shut Your Monkey: How to control your inner critic and get more done” is in my (other) publisher’s hands and will be hitting the shelves this autumn. Thanks you everyone who sent me their monkey tales. They added delicious fodder to my book.

In sum, Spring is finally springing here in New York and many lovely new things are blooming. Details to follow.

  1. YES! Way to go Danny!!!! I am patiently awaiting the outcome of you 3 are working on and what’s coming NEXT! Assuming it has to do with SBS… hoping so… But am open to whatever it is.

An aside, I was talking to a counseling client yesterday, who had lost her love partner of many years duration (death) and I happened to mention your book: A Kiss Before You Go! She lit up and shouted “I READ THAT!” And went on to tell me how helpful it was for her grieving process. I thought you’d like to know.

  2. Lot of success with Art for breakfast and the coming books. Also I would like to thank you for this kind of lessons at SBS. This morning I was looking at a video with Veronica Lawlor in which she asked if it is about the act of drawing or the drawing itself. That was an interesting question. I have followed an other course and now I noticed, I don’t know where I was at that time, what I was feeling, etc. I don’t remember a think about it. Than I looked back at the drawings I made during SBS kourses.. There they were: the memories. Thanks!

  3. There are no new books in the stores in Los Angeles, its so sad, I’ve not spent a cent the last few months. This is stifling to creativity. What about our kids? There is a dearth of creativity in Los Angeles, its the wasteland for the creative dead! It is also the fault of bookstore owners, they are so lacking. I keep watching out for your book. Others have written incredible artsy books but received no fanfare. Susan Branch’s last book was great. I’m using it as a guide to do a complete tour of England. Great books can spark the imagination of people who otherwise are slumbering!

  4. Danny Danny Danny !
I absolutely LOVE your new book. I bought one for myself, my fabulous daughter in law and my wonderful Mom. I love those women and want to share your wisdom and humor with them. We are all artists and we paint… but sometimes it’s so hard to find time to be creative. Your book has helped me in so many ways and i am spreading the word.
I love everything about your book. The portable size, the illustrations, the wisdom, and especially your great sense of humor. Can’t wait for your next book!
